The Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences of the University of Mazandaran will proudly host the 12th National Conference and the 3rd International Iranian Conference of Ichthyology on October 25-26, 2025. This conference is being held in cooperation with the Iranian Society of Ichthyology. Iran, with its privileged geographical location and access to the Caspian Sea in the north, the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman in the south, and inland waters has a high diversity of fish. Meanwhile, Mazandaran Province is considered one of the important coastal regions of Iran due to its special geographical location in the north of the country and its direct proximity to the Caspian Sea, which is home to valuable fish

Today, one of the most important challenges facing human societies is undoubtedly the increasing decline in biodiversity, including fish biodiversity, which is caused by human threats including habitat destruction, pollution, introduction of non-native species, overfishing, unreasonable fishing methods, development plans without considering environmental considerations and the capacity of aquatic ecosystems, etc. Finding a solution to counter this destructive trend and protect the valuable fish requires comprehensive thinking and increased public awareness. The Ichthyology Conference can provide a valuable opportunity for the exchange of experiences, achievements, and the expansion of knowledge, technology, and innovations
